Q. What should I wear?
A. Classic, simple
clothing is best for your photo session. Try to avoid things
that are trendy, as they will date your photo. I want to
capture the essence of you, not your clothing.
Q. What about
makeup?
Slightly more makeup
than your "everyday" look is usually a good idea, but remember that
we want to capture your natural beauty. Focusing on your eyes
and lips will help those beautiful features really pop. Also,
I have found that mineral makeup foundations (such as Bare
Escentuals) seem to create the best finish for photos.
Q. How long will
my photo session take?
A. I work very
quickly so I can capture people and moments before my clients get
"photo fatigue". If everyone is ready, the actual photo taking
time of your portrait session is usually 20 to 30 minutes. My
photographs are not traditional or posed. Moments happen fast!
Q. What about my
wedding photos? How long should I allow for pictures?
A. Again, I like
to work fast so I can capture everyone at their best and allow your
day to be about your wedding and not a photo shoot. Many of my
photos of your day will be captured without you, your wedding party,
or your guests knowing it. I look to capture moments, not
forced, formal poses.
That being said, I
recommend that you set aside one hour for all wedding photos.
Large wedding parties (seven or more attendants on each side) may take
longer. My photo sessions are fun and painless and you will love
the memories that are captured. Again, my approach is natural,
not stiff and posed. A bride wanting many formal, posed photos
should probably consider a photographer who better matches that style.
I encourage you to check out some of my recent
weddings
to get an idea of my style and approach.
Q. You keep
mentioned that your style is natural and not posed. What does
that mean?
A. It means that I
want to capture you, your friends and your family as you really are.
My goal is that you will look at your photos be transported back to
that moment in time. I want my work to result in cherished
memories preserved. Don't worry about what you need to do or
how you should act during your session. I will provide you
with some guidance, you will get into the moment and before you know
it we will be done.
Q. Can you refer
us to a . . . for our wedding?
A. Sure!
Just check out my
favorites
page to view information on my favorite wedding vendors. This
list is contains all of my recommendations and is updated regularly.
Q. Any final
advice?
A. I'm glad you
asked! After attending and participating in countless
weddings, my number one advice for brides, grooms and their families
is to remember that this day is about the very special union of two
people. Too often I see people overly concerned with the
details of the wedding and not the marriage. As
long as the two of you become man and wife, it has been a
perfect day. Enjoy! |
